Forty five quarter-finals will be decided at the National Intermediate Championships at Dublin’s National Stadium this Friday and Saturday.

The Championships resume at 6.30 pm on Friday with a last-eight curtain raiser between Stephen Carroll and Jamie Kennedy in the only light-welterweight contest of the session.

Paul Upton meets Petro Ursu in the second Ulster versus Leinster clash of the night, followed by flyweight duels between Gavan McComb and Stephen Treacy and Hughie Myres and Limerick’s Myles Casey.

A very competitive looking bantamweight division sees Jason Smith, Paul McGrath, Gary McKenna, Orin McDermott, Joel Scullion, Michael Nevin, Carl McDonald and Patrick Nevin fight for places in the last-four.

The George Bates versus Gerard Matthews featherweight three-rounder has the potential to be one of the bouts of the weekend, while William Keane, who meets Paddy Joyce, will be one of three boxers from the Riverstown BC in Cork in action at the weekend.

Liam Hanrahan and Ryan Peake contest the first of the 57Kg deciders and Christopher Nevin faces Alan O’Connor, while James Tennyson and Barry O’Hara go head-to-head in an all-Ulster 60Kg affair.

Ciaran Keogh, Anthony Upton, Jason Conroy and Jason Scully will also be in action in the 60Kg class.

The Championships semi-finals will be decided on December 2nd and 3rd.

The finals will be held on Friday, December 9th.
