Clash of the ash! Usyk startles Matchroom as he turns up for Chisora press conference with a hurl
Forget heavyweight clash it looked as if Oleksandr Usyk looked a clash of the ash advocate when he turned up for the final press conference ahead of his pay per view fight with Derek Chisora this Saturday night.
The former undisputed cruiserweight world champion and pound for pound talent entered the press conference arena with hurl and sliotar.
The Ukrainian didn’t bring the hurling equipment on stage with him, but has picked up the tools of a different sporting trade elsewhere.
It appears the heavyweight was presented with the hurl and new florescent sliotar by Belfast’s Tommy McCarthy.
‘The Mack Attack’ is also on the card as he bids to become Ireland’s 15th European champion in London this weekend as he takes on Bilal Laggoune for the vacant cruiserweight EBU title.
McCarthy tweeted a pic of him and heavyweight hopeful with the hurl and Usyk frightened the Matchroom team when he approached the stage with a the famous piece of ash in hand.

Presenting the live feed for Matchroom Chris Lloyd – who presented the TKO podcast with Carl Frampton, a fighter that has his own custom made hurl – witnessed Usyk and said: “He’s holding what looks like a hockey stick and a tennis ball, it’s an implement I have never seen before. I’m now getting worried.”

Chisora would have been bookies favourite to turn up with a hurl or something Irish-related as he sparred Dubliner Thomas Carty in preparation for the big fight.
