World ranked Irish fighters
With behind door shows and travel restrictions when boxing resumes this summer it looks like domestic derbies will be all the rage.
A less insular approach should start to creep back in once bigger steps toward a return to normality are taken later in the year.
When that happens world title fights should be back on the agenda, so we decided to take a look at the Irish fighters who are currently eligible to challenge for a world strap.
Spike O’Sullivan is rumoured to be closing in on a world title shot, but isn’t yet ranked having changed weight recently.
Dennis Hogan is ranked as a middleweight, but will move back to light middle in the pursuit of a third world title shot.
Super featherweight is our strongest with four ranked fighters hailing from that division.
Micheal Conlan is the only Irish fighter to be ranked by every governing body in his chosen weight category.
