World Is Not Enough Undercard latest
CWM Cyclone Promotions is pleased to announce welterweight contender Denton Vassell will box EBU no.3 ranked Viktor Plotnikov of Ukraine for the vacant IBF Intercontinental Welterweight title in Belfast on February 28, sponsored by CWM FX.
The bout will be part of a top-quality card at the Odyssey Arena when IBF World Super Bantamweight champion Carl Frampton makes the first defence of his title against Chris Avalos, a showdown that marks the return of ITV to big-time boxing.
Vassell’s return to the elite level on The World Is Not Enough show, sponsored by CWM FX, will be screened live on ITV4 as part of the build-up to the main event, which goes out prime time on the flagship ITV channel.
The Mancunian, 21 – 2, is a former Commonwealth champion and is looking to re-establish himself at the top end of the world rankings with a convincing win over the highly regarded Plotnikov.
The Klitstchko (K2 Promotions) promoted Plotnikov, 31 – 2, is ranked no.12 by the WBO as well as no.3 by the EBU. At 5ft 11 he is one of the tallest and classiest welterweights in Europe and heads to the Odyssey Arena full of confidence having stopped undefeated fighters in his last two bouts.
Vassell, three inches shorter, will need to be at his pressure-fighting best to claim a top 15 ranking with the IBF as well as the vacant IBF Intercontinental Welterweight Championship.
Also featuring on the Frampton vs Avalos card is former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Paddy Gallagher. The popular Belfast boxer faces off against Nicaraguan hard man Miguel Aguilar over four rounds in what will be the former amateur star’s first appearance of 2015.
The World Is Not Enough, Frampton vs Avalos, sponsored by CWM FX, will be screened live and exclusively on ITV on Saturday the 28th of February. Vassell vs
Plotnikov and the rest of an action-packed undercard plus the full build-up to Frampton vs Avalos will be live on ITV4.
