The Dublin lightweight, a silver medallist at light welter at the 2016 Worlds, meets New Zealand’s Troy Garton, a Commonwealth bronze medallist, in the round of 32.

Cavan flyweight Ceire Smith will face either Bulgarian European and EU bronze medallist Gabriela Dimitrova or Taiwan’s Huei Chin Chin who is a World Universities bronze medallist
Belfast feather Michaela Walsh will look to continue her streak having won EU gold, Commonwealth silver, and European bronze in her last three majors. The Monkstown talent will box either Romanian veteran Lacramiora Perijoc, who holds a win over Dervla Duffy, or Uzbekistani double Asian bronze medallist and Rio Olympian Yodgoroy Miraevo.
European U22 lightweight champ Amy Broadhurst steps up to light welter and faces Russian European bronze medallist and fellow former underage star Ekaterina Dynnik.
Roscommon middleweight Aoife O’Rourke, who took silver at the Euro U22s, boxes Taiwan’s Yang Ya Chu who beat Lauren Kelly en-route to World Youth bronze last year.
Receiving a bye to the Last 16, Offaly welter Grainne Walsh is not in action until Sunday when she will face Frenchwoman Emile Sonvico or double Panamerica gold medallist Noella Perez of Argentina.
