Wins for Fitzgerald and Geraghty in Birmingham

ANTHONY Fitzgerald warmed up for his domestic dalliance with middleweight nemesis Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan with a points win over Harry Matthews in England last night.

‘The Pride of Dublin’ out pointed the English fighter 40-37 after four rounds and will now set his sights on Cork’s O’Sullivan, who he trades leather with on August 30 in the National Stadium.

The Matthew’s win was the 29 year old’s second victory in a month and his second under the tutelage of Seamus Macklin.

Fellow Dub and MGM Marbella fighter Declan Geraghty also registered a points win on the Birmingham card.

The 23 year old former two weight Senior Champion out pointed former Lee Selby, Ricky Burns and Anthony Crolla foe.

Geraghty managed an impressive 40-36 victory over the 85 fight veteran to push his record to 3-0.
