Wilton: I can’t lose tonight. The Haskin fight is win win

LUKE Wilton has jumped up two weights to take on a British Champion at two days notice, but claims he can’t lose in Bristol tonight.

‘Winky’ claims his last minute bout with British bantamweight champion Lee Haskin’s to be broadcast live on Channel 5 tonight is win win.

Wilton stressed he jump at the chance to fight the well known switch hitcher and is ready to grab the chance to claim a scalp on terrestrial tv with both gloves.

“I have nothing to lose. I am jumping up two weight divisions and have taken it at two days’ notice. I found out at about 9.30pm on Thursday night and I said ‘yes’ straight away. This is a great opportunity for me. I am live on Channel Five and I am up for it.

“I have been training away for a show at the Holiday Inn on March 21, so I am good to go,” he told the Belfast Newsletter.

“He is an awkward switch-hitter, who throws punches for all sorts of angles. It will be a good test for me and I am going in there to give it a real go. I am in a win, win situation and it would have been silly to turn the fight down,” he added.

Wilton could have been challenging for a second British title, but the board wouldn’t sanction a title fight.

“The British Board of Control would not sanction the fight because I did not have a weight check last week. But I just want to show what I can do against Haskins.
