Willie Casey sinks foe on Titanic Showdown card
A gorgeous body shot in the last round saw Willie Casey defeat Georgian George Gachechiladze on the Titanic Showdown card.
The relatively inactive Limerick favourite registered second successive Belfast win since his Irish title reverse to Marc McCullough as he tries to push his way back toward the limelight.
It proved the perfect result and outcome for the former European super bantamweight champion as he got in a good solid six rounds and registered a stoppage win.
Casey abandoned the gun hoe go forward approach for a more box and move tactic from the off. He seemed happy to box on the back foot and work the body of his opponent in the first three stanzas. The straight left, which he doubled also proved fruitful.
He upped the tempo in the fourth much to the delight of his coach and indeed his watching wife and mother.
The fifth saw Casey land a variety of shots and his foe thought twice about marching forward for the first time in the fight.
