It went slightly under the radar due to the enormity of Celtic Clash 2 in Dublin on Saturday night, but Waterford welter Dylan Moran certainly made an impression in Manchester at the weekend.
Moran made his professional debut at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre on Saturday night on a Kieran Farrell show and scored an impressive first win. Facing a tough debut opponent in Chris Jenkinson, the Dungarvan 22 year old won all four rounds and had people talking.
Reflecting on his debut victory, Moran told Irish-Boxing,com that “the fight went perfect.”
“I won all the four rounds and felt comfortable throughout them all – everything we had been working on came together throughout the fight.”
“I’m delighted with how it went and I’m always looking to improve you can never stop learning .”
“It all went great and Kieran was happy with my performance too.”
While it was his first fight in a pro ring, ‘Real Deal’ Moran was better prepared than most for the transition. He explained how “most of my last fights as a kickboxer had small gloves and no headguard so it was nothing new. I was well used to it going on there.”
Moran brought a large crowd with him across the Irish Sea, however he also caught the eye of the English fans in attendance.
The Déise fighter noted how “the feedback after the fight was brilliant.”
“My support was incredible at the show and everyone else at the show wanted to know who the Irish kid was!”
Moran already has a new fight date scheduled, and is anticipating another takeover. He outlined how “the 22nd of September again in Manchester is my second fight.”
“There’s already 30 people booked to go! I’m just looking forward to getting back in there.”
