‘We’re in your corner’ – Bono and The Edge send Carl Frampton congratulatory message

Carl Frampton received a nice gift today from two of U2’s finest.

Singer Bono and lead Guitarist ‘The Edge’ from the group behind the ‘Streets Have no Name’ and other legendary songs sent the boxer a hamper with a somewhat cryptic note.

The hamper with a collection of drinks was accompanied with a card that read ‘we’re in your corner’.

The timing of the gift and the wording of the note would suggest the world famous band were making reference to ‘The Jackal’s’ legal battle with former manager Barry McGuigan.

Either that or they are just general Frampton fans and are wishing the Belfast fighter well ahead of his proposed 2021 three weight world title bid.

The 33-year-old looks dead certain challenge Jamel Herring for his WBO super featherweight world in January.

Frampton had sued his fellow Irish boxing legend, McGuigan for withheld earnings of up to £6m, while McGuigan had a separate counter claim for breach of contract due to be heard.

After 19 days in the Belfast High Court and during a period when the case was adjourned the pair came to a settlement.
