Welsh Champion awaits O’Kane, who would like a Lee bout
EAMONN O’Kane says the prospect of fighting WBO middleweight champion and fellow Irish pugilist Andy Lee excites him, but the Derry favourites focus is on Frankie Borg.
‘King Kane’ fights the Welsh middleweight on Friday, February 13 at Swindon Oasis Leisure Centre.
The World Awaits show promoted by KM Promotions will be the Commonwealth medal winners first under the guidance of George Groves Irish trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick.
Victory would see O’Kane maintain his IBF top 10 ranking and if he emerges unscathed he would like a Lee tilt.
Speaking to the Irish News O’Kane said:
“I respect Andy, I think he is a great guy and I think what he has done is fantastic. It’s nothing personal, but I would love to fight for a World title and who better to fight for a World title than two Irish guys.”
