Birmingham lightweight, Michael Rooney, weighed in today at the Smock Alley Theatre for his eight pro fight. Fighting for the first time outside of Birmingham, Rooney will be hoping to impress in Dublin – where he has a lot of family.

26 year old Rooney faces Richard Walter of the Czech Republic in a four rounder at the National Stadium on the undercard of the Jamie Conlan-headlined ‘New Beginning’ card.

Doors open at the National Stadium at 6pm, first bell is at 6:45pm Tickets are available from ticketmaster.ie. ‘New Beginning: Conlan-Granados’ will also be shown live on Boxnation from 7pm.
