Weekend Preview: June 9th-11th

As is somewhat typical of the Summer months, it is a quiet weekend ahead for Irish boxers.

However, there are a few fighters in action around the globe:

First up is Belfast lightweight Joe Fitzpatrick [3(3)-0] on Thursday night in London. ‘The Dragon’ fights on a Frank Warren show at the York Hall against Sunderland’s Jordan Ellison in what will be a step-up in class for the Commonwealth Games silver medalist.

On Friday night there is a homecoming for Swindon cruiserweight Luke Watkins [7(4)-0]. ‘The Duke’ boxes at the Grange Leisure Centre against dangerous Latvian upsetter Reinis Porozovs.

Finally, on Saturday night across the Pond in Quincy, Massachustes, Matt ‘The Mantis’ Doherty [4(2)-2(0)-1] is gunning for a huge upset. The Salem light welterweight takes on former Chinese amateur star Zhimin Wang at the Marina Bay SportPlex.
