Weekend Preview: July 8th-10th
It’s a fairly busy weekend ahead for Irish fighters.
On Friday at the Dolman Exhibition Hall in Bristol, the Paddy Fitzpatrick-trained light heavyweight David Bailey [4(0)-0] takes on Mitch Mitchell.
There is plenty of Irish interest on Saturday night at the Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull. The bill is topped by Dublin-Brummie lightweight Michael Rooney [9(1)-1(1)], who is looking to bounce back from his first career defeat.
Dublin heavyweight fan-favourite Sean Turner [7(5)-0] will look to add another knockout to his record.
Buncrana middleweight John Hutchinson [6(1)-2(0)-2] fights Sonny Whiting as he continues his comeback trail.
Liverpool-born light middleweight ‘Kid Shamrock’ JJ Metcalf [12(6)-0] also returns following his win on the Tony Bellew-Junior Makabu undercard.
Across the Atlantic, at the Santa Santa Ana Star Center in New Mexico, Irish Bryant McClain [2(0)-0] continues his pro apprenticeship.
On Sunday afternoon, at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, Northern journeymen Alec Bazza [0-16(2)-1] and Casey Blair [3(0)-10(2)] are in action. Belfast’s Bazza takes on light welterweight Darren Surtees, while Bangor’s Blair faces light middleweight debutant Adam Watson.
