WATCH: New World Champion Gervonta Davis fight Belfast boxer back in the amateurs
A new boxing star was born last night.
22 year old Gervonta Davis [17(16)-0] became the new IBF super featherweight champion with a dominant display against champion Jose Pedraza.
A slight underdog beforehand, the American youngster knocked out Pedraza with a huge right hook in the seventh round to become one of the youngest world champions in boxing today.

The Mayweather Promotions starlet was a highly skilled amateur, boxing out of the Upton club in his native Baltimore and compiling an impressive record of 206-15.
One of these 221 bouts came against none other than Belfast’s Joe Fitzpatrick back in 2012 as part of the Belfast Beltway Project, with the two southpaws going head to head in Washington DC.
Davis would win that night in one of his last few amateur bouts before turning pro. Fitzpatrick of the Immaculata Club in Divis, West Belfast, would go on to win 2014 Commonwealth silver and has since turned pro and compiled a 6(4)-0 record.
