WATCH: Mayweather-McGregor First Press Conference and Head-to-Head
Dublin’s Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather came face-to-face for the first time tonight in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles in front of 20,000 fans for the first of four press conferences to promote their fight next month.
Crumlin light middle McGregor debuts against the five-weight boxing champ at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday August 26th, live on Showtime pay-per-view.
The conference, following an introduction from Mauro Ranallo, Brendan Schaub, and Paulie Malignaggi, as well as music from Aloe Blacc, began with a face-off before the fighters both said their piece from the podium and ending with an extremely heated and elongated head-to-head.
McGregor, speaking first, promised to stop Mayweather inside four rounds, noted the amount of restrictions placed upon the bout especially regarding gloves, chided the American for his choice of tracksuit attire, as well as emphasising the inspiration he now derives from his newborn son Conor Jr.
Mayweather would state his willingness to wear four ounce gloves instead of the agreed twelve ounce gloves, showed off his $100,000,000 cheque from the Manny Pacquiao fight, noted his diminishing abilities in the ring as he now 40, but promised to stop the Irish mixed martial artist.
The madness continues tomorrow night in Toronto.
