WATCH LIVE: Ryan Burnett v Nonito Donaire WEIGH-IN

Ryan Burnett and Nonito Donaire will step on the scales in Glasgow inside the next hour.

The Irishman defends his WBA bantamweight title versus the Filipino legend tomorrow night at the SSE Hydro in the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Super Series.

Both fighters must come in within the 118lbs today for the fight to go ahead or else one, or both, of reserves Paul Butler and Yoann Boyeaux will step in.

Today’s weigh-in has attracted more attention than usual due to rumours which circulated last week suggesting that Donaire, who is stepping down two weight classes at the age of 35, was set to pull out of the fight as he will be unable to make bantamweight.

Donaire, who last fought at bantam in 2011, has laughed off these rumours, claiming that he was 119.8lbs at a checkweight on Tuesday and musing that the talk may have come from first reserve Paul Butler’s camp.

Whether true or not, all will be revealed this evening – with Burnett, for whom a move to super bantam has been mooted, also having the tough task of holding weight under an unfamiliar timescale.

In line with other WBSS weigh-ins, today’s tallies will be taken after 5:00pm which is much later than usual in Britain and Ireland where weigh-ins customarily take place at around 1:00pm.

This will, therefore, give both fighters less time to rehydrate for tomorrow night’s fight – which is due to be streamed live on the World Boxing Super Series website and social channels.
