WATCH: James Tennyson’s sensational stoppage of Atif Shafiq
James Tennyson [25(21)-3(2)] added another knockout to the show reel in London on Saturday afternoon.
The 26-year-old former world title challenger stopped Yorkshire boxer Atif Shafiq [21(5)-3(2)] late in the second round of their fight on Matchroom’s Vasiliy Lomachenko versus Luke Campbell PPV card.
‘The Assassin’ continued to prove he brought his power up with him to lightweight with another impressive stoppage – the English fighter became the 21st victim of Tennyson’s power.
It’s the second time the Tony Dunlop trained fighter registered a big knockout win in the O2 Arena. He returned to the same venue where he stopped Martin J Ward to claim the European super featherweight title to impress in front of the Sky Sports cameras yet again.
The Shafiq stoppage means ‘Tenny’ picks up the WBA International lightweight title and a potential world ranking, but he has his eyes set on the British title that currently is in the possession of Joe Cordina and a potential eliminator with Craig Evans.
