The famous duo met today at the Europa Hotel in Belfast for the first time since their epic world featherweight title fight at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NYC in July of this year. That ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate captivated the boxing world and since the final bell rang to conclude Frampton vs Santa Cruz, boxing fans and aficionados alike have been calling for the rematch, such was the entertainment of that all-action WBA Super world featherweight title bout on July 30 in New York, USA.

The press conference was energetic. Santa Cruz was predictably booed upon entering the noisy Europa Hotel in contrast to Frampton who received a hero’s welcome that is becoming the norm for the 5ft 5inch puncher.

Frampton:
“Its great to have Leo Santa Cruz here & for the people of belfast to see a 3 weight world champion in the flesh.”

Today marked the start of the press tour for Frampton vs Santa Cruz 2 and Frampton’s legion of fans turned out in great numbers to show their support for their incredibly popular champion. On Thursday (December 1) the tour moves on to downtown Los Angeles, where Santa Cruz’s fans will have their chance to show their support ahead of the highly anticipated rematch on January 28 in Las Vegas, USA.

Santa Cruz enjoyed his Belfast experience: “Im very happy to be here & excited. The first fight was a great fight & this second fight is going to be even better.”

“I got my first defeat to a great fighter & I want to win the rematch, hopefully I win & I would like to have the 3rd fight in Belfast. Hopefully the night will go my way & we can come to Belfast for the 3rd fight.”
