WATCH: Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor – Technical Knockout

There was plenty of effort and certainly a better performance than many expected, but Conor McGregor fell to a stoppage defeat in his professional debut last night in Las Vegas.

McGregor was stopped standing in the tenth round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas by five-weight champion Floyd Mayweather.

The Irishman’s fitness levels diminished rapidly from around the third round onwards, and by the ninth he had began to be a static target for an increasing number of Mayweather rights.

Referee Robert Byrd finally stepped in to intervene after a minute of the tenth after McGregor had been twice sent staggering back across the ring and found himself pinned on the ropes as Mayweather reigned in shots.
