Warrington wants to show he is ready for Frampton and co with Hyland win
Josh Warrington thinks about time to show he is ready to mix it with the World’s best featherweights – and believes a win over Patrick Hyland on Saturday night at the First Direct Arena will go some way to proving his World credentials.
Indeed there is another Irishman in Warrington’s sights, among a whole host of other names in the 126lb division, should he overcome The Punisher.
Warrington told Sky Sports that “I am highly ranked by the WBC at the moment but the division is one of the hardest out there – yet it is still wide open,”
“Lomachenko has moved up, Oscar Valdez just took the WBO title so there are options there. Gary Russell Jr is rumoured to be stepping up as well looking for that rematch with Loma, but there’s still Selby, and of course Santa Cruz or Frampton.”
First of all however ‘The Leeds Warrior’ is faced with the formidable test of Jobstown’s Hyland, and Warrington admits that “it’s not going to be an easy task, but I can do it and I will show them I am more than capable of mixing with World level.”
