Ward and Joyce in AIPA action this Friday
Joe Ward will meet Germany’s Serge Mitchel over six rounds in AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) on Friday night in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Ward scored a notable victory last time out, the Irish southpaw beating AIBA World No. 2 ranked light-heavy Oybek Mamazulunov on a unanimous decision in Sofia.
The three-time AIBA World Elite, Youth and Junior medallist, who has already beaten Kazakhstan’s World No. 1 Adilbek Niyazymbetov this year, earned a 59-55,58-56,59-55 verdict.
Eddie Bolger and Zuar Antia will be working Ward’s corner in Sofia this weekend. The Irish contingent depart of Sofia tomorrow.
“Joe is in great form. He’s working very hard and adapting to this new game and is looking forward to his third APB fight,” said Eddie Bolger.
Three time European Union champion David Oliver Joyce, who convincingly decisioned ex World Elite Champion Domenico Valentino of Italy in his last APB fight in Astana, Kazakhstan will meet Germany’s Arthur Bril in Astana, Kazakhstan the weekend after next.
