Conrad Cummings had a career best win on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s IBF super bantamweight title defence in Texas last month. The Coalisland middleweight fought Mexico’s Oscar Riojas, a dangerous super middleweight who had previously held the WBC Mexican title.
Riojas’s only previous loss heading into the bout was an eight round points reversal to Mayweather Promotions fighter, Ronald Garvil. Indeed, Cummings endured a tough first round in El Paso with Riojas outworking him early.
However, after advice from trainer Shane McGuigan, Cummings came out a different fighter in the second, landing some big shots and finishing the bout with a lovely right.
