Upton Brothers leave Ricky Hatton
Belfast’s Upton Brothers have announced that they have parted company with Ricky Hatton.
The trio, light middleweights Sonny and Pauly, and light welter Anto, have trained under the former two-weight World champion throughout their professional careers, racking up a combined 37(12)-3(1) record.
In that time, Pauly has won the Irish title, stopping Terry Maughan in April of this year, while Anto buckled the English belt around his waist last month with a one-punch stoppage of Luke Paddock. Sonny meanwhile will challenge for the English title this Autumn against Ben Hall.
The Uptons, managed by MGM, announced tonight “with great sadness” that they are leaving the Hitman.
They explained that “it has been a great experience and for the best part it’s been a pleasure working with Ricky and his team.”
“But due to his turbulent private life, and his inability to commit 100% to the bhoys training, they have mutually agreed to part company.”
“We wish him and his family all the best.”
