Upset specialists Maynooth handed chance to register the ultimate shock

Maynooth University Town have been handed the chance to cause the ultimate shock.

The LSL second tier side were surprise winners of the FAI Intermediate Cup last season and are one of only two amateur sides to reach the FAI Senior Cup last 16.

In the second round proper the form side have been drawn away to reigning champions Cork City.

It’s a massive tie for the amateur outfit and provides them with the chance to beat cause one of the biggest upsets in FAI Cup history.

Cork defeated Home Farm in the last round, the side Maynooth open their league campaign against this coming weekend.

The other amateur side left in the competition CIE Ranch have been drawn against Division 1 high flyers UCD.

UCD accounted for Limerick amateur side Pike Rovers in the first round last weekend.
