Two wins, two knock outs, too good- Tommy McCarthy impresses again

TOMMY McCarthy proved too good for Imantas Davidaitis in Manchester on Saturday night and made it two wins and two knock outs since turning pro.

The Belfast big man pushed his record to 2-0 on the Coldwell Boxing show at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre.

The former Senior heavyweight champion of Ireland has started pro life as a cruiserweight, but manager Pat Magee put him in with 6’8′ Davidaitis to see how his charge copped with larger foes in case they do eye up a heavyweight assault.

And just like he did on his debut McCarthy didn’t just manage, but outclassed more respected journey man opposition.

The former Irish International proved too strong from the off the referee was forced to step in and save Davidaitis 2:27 into round two.
