Tureano Johnson: I’m going to dispose of garbage Eamonn O’Kane

Bahamian middleweight Tureano Johnson [18(14)-1(1)] is aiming to become a star “by beating Eamonn O’Kane real bad” in their IBF title eliminator tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden.

The pair box on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux’s PPV title unification, and Johnson will not have endeared himself to Irish fans with his pre-fight comments.

Speaking to SecondsOut at the undercard press conference, the Caribbean boxer was dismissive O’Kane’s knockout power and joked: “He’s a big puncher? I didn’t know that, I guess I have to do my research again because I know he’s only got five knockouts – but that’s ok compared to my fourteen knockouts!”

The Golden Boy Promotions fighter was however complimentary of the Irishman’s fighting style, commenting that “Eamonn O’Kane is an exciting fighter, he comes from Ireland, those guys just love to fight.”

“Come Saturday night you’re gonna see a real real gladiator slugfest”

Nevertheless, Johnson is supremely confident of a win against the Derry underdog and concluded that “Eamonn said he’s coming out here to expose me, I’m similar to Eamonn but I’m coming to dispose of him.”

“You’re gonna see a disposal, garbage-truck collector like myself go out there and put on a show.”
