Top Waterford amateur signs pro deal
It’s A Bout Boxing Ireland have added to their roster ahead of their first show later this year.
The new outfit have confirmed that they have signed top Waterford light heavyweight Barry Barnes.
The St Paul’s fighter won the 2014 Intermediate Championships but would suffer a nasty knee injury that left him out of action until last Summer. The 29 year old had intended to enter next month’s Senior Elite Championships, but has now elected to turn pro.
Barnes joins fellow debutants Regan Buckley, John Joyce, and Dylan McDonagh, alongside Stephen Carroll and Crank Whitehouse, in the It’s A Bout Boxing Ireland stable.
All of the aforementioned will feature on the April 1st show – titled Táimid Laochra – at the National Stadium. This bill is set to be headlined by world title chasing super flyweight Christina McMahon.
