Tony Senior makes long-awaited ring return with a first-round KO

Both Stevie Quinn and Daniel McShane made long overdue and welcome returns to the ring on the entertaining Assassin’s Creed card in Belfast last Saturday night.

However, the victorious pair were not the only Irish fighters ending years-long ring sabbaticals over the weekend.

Dubliner Tony Senior claimed his ninth career win and his first victory since he last traded leather back in the aptly named Hurtsville in February of 2016.

The 34-year-old former Crumlin amateur, who was rumoured to be a Last Man Standing option before the initial line up was announced, came back with a bang and made it seven stoppages in just nine fights.

‘Misdemeanor’ took less than a round to deal with Kiwi journeyman Daniel Maxwell [6(0)-53(11)] to prolong his unbeaten pro run and get back into the swing of things on a BH Promotions card in Sydney.

The Australian based light middleweight, who received some words of wisdom from one Nigel Benn pre the clash, looks set for a busier 2018 and will be hoping to work his way up the rankings over the next 12 months after a few years taken out to start a family.
