TJ Doheny will help Roman ‘show the world what he is made of’ claims promoter

TJ Doheny [21(15)-0] is exactly the type of opponent Danny Roman [26(10)-2(0)-1] needs to ‘show the world what he’s made of’ claims his promoter Ken Thompson.

Both IBF world super bantamweight champion Doheny and the WBA title holder Roman enjoyed big 2018s.

Doheny went to Japan to claim his strap in impressive fashion and is currently Ireland’s only male world champion, while Roman collected his belt in the Land of the Rising Sun in 2017, but defended it three times last year.

Now having cemented his status as a champion and significantly increasing his profile the American’s promoter suggests his charge is on a legacy mission.

Thompson points out risks will have to be taken to move ‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ from respected champion to a star of the sport and he believes on April 26 in LA Doheny will provide the kind of test that will enable the 28 year old to do just that.

The promoter also claims Roman is not risk adverse and in his desire to prove himself is keen on fighting the best and the other champions at the weight.

“Danny is one of those rare boxers that is motivated and committed to fighting the very best,” said Ken Thompson, President, Thompson Boxing Promotions.

“He understands the risks that he is taking, but that’s what drives him. Against Doheny, he gets to show the world what he’s made of. It will be a tough fight, but one that Danny is more than capable of winning. We expect him to fight his fight and come out with another win and another World title.”
