Title fight for Conrad Cummings
Tyrone middleweight Conrad Cummings [10(4)-0-1] will box for a title on Friday November 18th.
The Coalisland puncher will box on the undercard of George Groves v Eduard Gutknecht at the Wembley Arena in London.
The title which Cummings will fight for is yet to be confirmed.
‘Dynamite’ fought to a ten round draw with Alfredo Meli [11(3)-0-1] for the BBBoC Celtic title last November, and a rematch would certainly appeal – although the Belfast man has a provisional date scheduled at the Europa Hotel for late November.
In terms of the Irish title, the Boxing Union of Ireland have mandated for Luke Keeler [10(5)-2(1)] and Darren Cruise [7(0)-5(0)] to box for the green belt. Keeler fights on November 5th, while Cruise is currently stationed in Syria on peacekeeping duties with the Irish army.
Tommy Langford currently holds the Commonwealth title, and will look to add the vacant British title to his collection on October 22nd in Cardiff against Sam Sheedy.
The European title is currently held by Frenchman Michel Soro [28(18)-1(0)-1], however the Ivory Coast-born boxer would come perhaps too soon for Cummings.
With the Brexit vote yet to be enforced, one title which Cummings may fight for is the EU belt. The strap is currently held by Spaniard Ruben Diaz [22(14)-1(0)-2] and Cyclone have very good links with the Spanish boxing scene.
The title in question may also be one of the countless ranking-enhancing trinkets on offer from the major organisations.
An update from Cyclone Promotions regarding the fight is expected “soon.”
The show will be terrestrially televised through Channel 5 and will also feature British flyweight champion Andrew Selby, English welterweight champion Johnny Garton, Dean Richardson, and Rebel Londoner Dan-Dan Keenan, with more to be announced.
