Belfast super featherweight starlet Mathew Fitzsimons had another big KO win at the weekend.

Fighting on the Malta Boxing Commission show at the Devenish, the 19 year old stopped Latvia’s Igors Dubovs inside one round.

‘Thunder’ Fitzsimons inflicted a sustained barrage of heavy shots on his Baltic opponent before the towel was thrown in.

It was a second successive stoppage win for Fitzsimons, who improves to 2(2)-0. Dubovs’s record now reads 1(1)-2(2).
