VOTE: Three Irish fighters nominated for RTÉ Sports Person of the Year
Three Irish boxers have been nominated for the 2017 RTÉ Sports Person of the Year Award.

Following a stellar year for Irish boxing with multiple medals and world titles, our boxers are well represented in the end of year nominees.
The three fighters picked are:
Ryan Burnett – Won and unified bantamweight world titles.
Katie Taylor – Won a lightweight world title in her first year as a professional.
Joe Ward – Won European gold and World silver.
A public vote, the winners will be announced next Saturday night (December 16th) on the live broadcast of the awards show.
Michael Conlan, Katie Taylor, Michael Carruth, and Barry McGuigan are all previous Irish boxers who have won the award – while Conor McGregor, who later became a boxer, won last year’s award for his exploits in mixed martial arts. Paddy Barnes, Jason Quigley, Carl Frampton (twice), and Andy Lee have all previously been nominated.
