The Quiet Man can’t wait to fight in front of the loudest fans in boxing
To say Steven Ward is excited about his next fight date is an under statement.
The light heavyweight has impressed en route to 4-0 and has appeared on TV bills topped by the likes of Paddy Barnes and Jamie Conlan, but claims there is something extra special about his July 29 ring return.
Ward has secured a spot on the Carl Frampton homecoming bill and will trade leather on the Odyssey Arena on what promises to be another magical night.
The MTK light heavyweight prospect can’t wait to enter the Jackal’s Den and fight in front of the Jackal Army.
“It is all systems go now for July 29. I am buzzing about it,” Ward said when speaking to Belfast Live.
“After my last fight everyone was talking about the Frampton bill, and how they would love to be part of it. I had a chat with Barry McGuigan at Carl’s press conference recently and fortunately things have worked out.
“It is an honour to fight on Carl’s undercard. Since I was confirmed things have been mad. My phone didn’t stop that night and everyone was contacting me.
“I had a lot of requests for tickets, but they are like gold dust.
“July 29 will be a massive platform for me. To be on the undercard of someone like Carl Frampton is amazing. I am usually in the crowd watching Carl fight, but this time I will be fighting on the same night.”
