The Boxing Bookie Basher – Weekly Betting Tips

The missus spent all my the money on a new pair of Jimmy Choos this week so I gotta make back the money somehow.

For that reason I’m going for some outside bets this week to yield a high return. I say ‘outside bets’ because that is the way the bookies have priced them but in my book they all have a punchers chance of claiming victory.

I’m gonna go for a treble this week that pays an incredible €190 for a €10 stake.

First up I really fancy Glenn Foot against Sam Eggington. Foot is the slight outsider at 20/21 and is not known as a big puncher but has an unblemished 15-0-0 record compared to Eggington’s 15-2-0. Sunderland lad Foot was on the same Prizefighter show as Eggington back in 2013 – Foot emerged as champion beating Dale Evens who had beaten Eggington in the quarter final.

The second bet I think presents value for money is Kiko Martinez against Scott Quigg. Martinez is in my view a huge price at 3/1. From 32 wins big punching Kiko has 24 KO’s on his record and IBF World champion up until he lost his strap to Carl Frampton last September. Anyone with a modicum of boxing knowledge knows how much of a warrior Kiko is and as much as I rate Quigg as a good fighter, I think he has bitten off more than he can chew with the Spaniard.

The third element of my trio Anthony Crolla to win against Darley Perez. Again, Crolla is the outsider in this bout at 7/5 and rightly so against an opponent of Perez’s class. However, I have a gut feeling about this one. Crolla looked like he would never fight again after an attack late last year but he has shown great resilience to get back in with shot at a world title. Add to that a raucous home Manchester home crowd and we could see a new world champion.
