The American Dream – Davey Oliver Joyce to fight in USA

It’s next stop New York for Mullingar super featherweight David Oliver Joyce [8(7)-0].

The Rio Olympian has tonight had an appearance confirmed for the famous Madison Square Garden Arena.

Joyce will box on the undercard of the Danny Jacobs v Sergiy Derervyanchenko vacant IBF middleweight title fight in the Big Apple on Saturday October 27th.

Joyce last boxed in August stopping Mexican late replacement Arturo Lopez in the sixth round of their clash in Glasgow.

The 31-year-old had been set for a big jump up in class to face Scot Ronnie Clark but saw this scrap scrapped after the Dundee fighter suffered an injury.

An opponent has not been confirmed for Joyce yet and it is unsure whether his bout will be an early undercard affair or a competitive fight.

The fight may also be shown on Sky Sports but this remains to be confirmed.

Earlier this month Joyce’s fellow former Elite amateurs, Sean McComb and Steven Donnelly, were announced for the same bill – although Belfast lightweight McComb was moved to the October 20th Matchroom card in Boston just a few hours later.

Also featuring on the New York undercard alongside Joyce and Ballymena light middleweight Steven Donnelly will be a WBA super featherweight title defence from Alberto Machado versus Yuandale Evans and a vacant WBO featherweight title fight between Shelly Vincent and Katie Taylor target Heater Hardy.
