‘That will probably be her next fight’ – Eddie Hearn discusses Katie Taylor plans

Katie Taylor [17(6)-0] will most likely fight the winner of the Jessica McCaskill [9(3)-2(0)] and Cecilia Braekhus [36(9)-1(0)] next according to Eddie Hearn.

A host of names have been dropped along side the undisputed lightweight champions since a sensational display against Miriam Gutierrez on Saturday night.

With her mandatory out of the way the undisputed lightweight world champion is free to pick from a list of potential foes.

Matchroom boss Hearn believes the winner of the undisputed welterweight repeat will be next up.

“That will probably be her next fight,” said Hearn when asked about those match ups by Boxingscene.

The fact a date hasn’t been set for the rematch between the ‘First Lady’ and ‘Caskilla’ may mean another fighter gets a shot before hand.

Taylor is keen to get out as soon as possible and may not wait till Spring of 2021.

“The problem is Katie is so keen to box, I am not joking when I say she will be asking me if she can box again this year.

“She goes back to see her family for a week then she wants to get back into camp.”

Pre the Gutierrez win MMA star Cris Cyborg was the name Hearn was mentioning most.

Bellator’s demand to make a two fight deal and have one an MMA fight has put that on the backburner.

“That fight is all about the money,” said Hearn. “Cyborg is big. Scott Coker (the Bellator promoter) says they want to do one boxing and one MMA. I think it is brilliant for the crossover and exposure for the sport, but we will see what happens.”
