James Tennyson’s Final British title eliminator against Scotland’s Darren Traynor will play out on home soil.

Aberdeen’s undefeated Traynor stands between the 22 year old Celtic Champion and a coveted British title shot and rather than having to travel to Scotland Tennyson gets to have the biggest fight of his career in front of his loyal support.

The bout, which will also act as a BBBofC Celtic title defence for ‘Tenny’ will play out in the Europa Hotel on February 6.

MHD Promoter Mark Dunlop confirmed he won the purse bids to promote the fight and plans to stage it in Belfast.

“I am delighted to announce that my purse bid to stage one of the most exciting and an important fights for a local fighter in a long time was the highest.

“The “Final Eliminator” for the right to fight for the coveted British Featherweight Title.

Traynor is a former Scottish International and American Golden Gloves Champion and comes into the contest undefeated in 11 contests.

However, Tennyson would be deemed favourite to win and progress to fight Liam Walsh for the strap due to the fact he has a higher knock out percentage, more experience despite only being 22 and better names on his record.
