Tennyson: I had a good 12 months but 2016 will be even better
James ‘The Assassin’ Tennyson has taken out all five of his 2015 opponents to move to within 12 rounds of a British title shot.
The run of five wins, which includes a Celtic title win over Kris Hughes, ensured a nigh-on perfect 12 months in which the Belfast 22 year old secured himself a British title eliminator.
However, although he reflects on a positive year, which ended with a first round stoppage of Sergejs Logins in Tallinn, with delight – Tennyson warns 2016 will be even better.
A February clash with Aberdeen’s Darren Traynor awaits, and before the summer is done the big punching MHD Promoted fighter could be British Champion.
Speaking to Nicky Fullerton of the Belfast Newsletter in Estonia after his victory the weekend Tennyson said,
“I was happy enough with the performance and the finish. I whipped in a few body shots and your guy did not like it.
“It is another win but there are bigger tests up ahead. I am defending my Celtic title next year and it is also a final eliminator for the British title – so I have loads to look forward to in 2016.”
“This has a good 12 months but 2016 will be even better,” he added.
