Tennyson delighted to pass tough test and move into British title contention
JAMES Tennyson afforded himself a quick glance toward a possible British title shot after registering a career best win on top of an entertaining Devinish card in Belfast on Saturday.
Tennyson put to bed the defeat suffered last time he fought in his home town with an impressive performance against a game and tough Ian Bailey.
And ‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ admits beating the Southern Area English champion and British title level fighter has given both his confidence and ranking a boost.
“This was a real test. Ian Bailey is a tough tough guy and never stopped coming forward,” Tennyson said after his most recent win.
“I landed some big shots and wobbled him, but he took them and came back for more. It is a real confidence boost because he has been in with some top fighters. He is ranked fourth in the British rankings so this win will put me up there.”
