Team Quigg have motivated Frampton for us says McGuigan
Barry McGuigan doesn’t have to worry about motivating Carl Frampton ahead of his massive World title fight with Scott Quigg, Eddie Hearn and co are doing that for him.
The Irish boxing legend stresses all the ‘hot air’ emanating from Team Quigg will only help the Belfast talent rise further to the occasion.
Promoter Eddie Hearn, Coach Joe Gallagher and to a lesser extent Quigg have been trying to ruffle the feathers of the super bantamweight IBF Champion since the the February 27 PPV clash was announced.
However, rather than throw ‘The Jackal’ off his game the opposition have just focused him further according to Cyclone Promotions CEO.
When speaking about the mind games McGuigan told Sky Sports Frampton is guzzling down the ‘banter juice’.
“All of the stuff, all of the hot air doesn’t matter. All I know is that Frampton will turn up on the 27th – he is in the best shape of his life. All of this banter and comments and sneaky stuff – that has done our job for us. They have motivated this kid.
There are suggestion Quigg has gotten under Frampton’s skin, but McGuigan claims the undefeated 29 year old has proven he has keep calm capabilities.
“Kiko Martinez did it, Chris Avalos did it,” said McGuigan. “There was lots of fiery stuff in the press in the way up to the fight, really vitriolic stuff, face-to-face stuff and all of that, and the fight comes around and Carl is cool as a cucumber.”
