Team Ireland impress at European level in 2015

Ireland was right in the mix in the medals tables at World and European level in 2015, with eight gold medals secured at all levels and forty medals overall.

Michael Conlan, who claimed double World and European gold, Katie Taylor, Joe Ward, Michael O’Reilly, Amy Broadhurst and Michael Nevin, who secured double female and male European Youth gold, and Jason Harty finished on top of their respective podiums.

Europe won five of the ten gold medals available at the World Elite Men’s Championships in Qatar, with Conlan winning Ireland’s first title at this level.

Europe won 16 of the 40 medals available in Qatar, with Conlan, Ward and Michael O’Reilly winning three of that total.

Conlan, Ward and O’Reilly took home two medals apiece from the World and European Championships and European Games in 2015.

In the World Series of Boxing, Paddy Barnes topped the light-fly rankings last year after posting seven wins from seven.
