Team Ireland arrive at World Championships ahead of hunt for medals and Olympic qualification

Team Ireland completed their first light training session in Doha, Qatar this morning ahead of the start of the AIBA World Elite Championships and Olympic qualifiers in the Persian Gulf city on Tuesday.

Ireland’s seven-strong squad, who arrived in Doha yesterday, visited the 7,700 Ali Bin Hamas Al Attiya Arena-Al Sadd venue this afternoon – where they were met by a familiar face:

“The team are fine tuning now and keeping an eye on the weights,” said Irish head coach Billy Walsh.

The draw will be held on Monday. Boxing begins on Tuesday at the 73-nation tournament.

It’s 41 degrees in Doha today.
