The two Tyrone’s McKenna and McCullagh are famed for being very close and borderline crazy – and the former went a long way to enhancing that reputation today.
The pair roomed together whilst in camp in Glasgow recently, walk each other to the ring, go back a long way and even changed trainer -both moving to Pete Taylor last week – at the same time.
They are as close as two boxers can be, but now welterweight McKenna will never be apart from the Derry City favourite.
‘The Mighty Celt’ today [Wednesday] got a tattoo of the featherweight on his leg.
The Tyrone’s were not on MTV’s show ‘Just Tattoo Of Us’ – and McCullagh didn’t inflict the tat on his mate.
Rather the roots of the tat are in a game of bowling. During a game in Liverpool last year they agreed the loser would get a tattoo of the victor’s face.
McKenna lost and although it took awhile he stayed through to his word and got a McCullagh tattoo.
In keeping with the crazy theme the Golden Contract contestant got the chose the bizarrest of images to use.
For some reason he went for a tattoo of the Derry fighter eating a burrito.
When confirming the the tattoo stories were legitimate McKenna confirmed they were.
He also expressed a belief McCullagh should follow suit, wondered if the subject of his latest tat – the Belfast fighter gets one after every win – would have followed through if he lost and revealed his other half isn’t overjoyed, indeed she is some what jealous.
“She’s asking for one of her..I said when she beats me in bowling then we can speak,” McKenna explained to Irish-boxing.com.
