Take a look at the boxing matches for September 2017
If you’re a fan of boxing, then you’ve come to the right place. Now that the dust as settled on the McGregor/Mayweather fight there is still plenty for boxing fans to sink their teeth into. We’ve rounded up the fights happening worldwide throughout the month of September.
- Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury, 23/09
Two undefeated heavyweight champions will be facing off on the 23rd of September, as the World Boxing Organisation, WBO, Heavyweight World Champion Joseph Parker enters the ring with WBO Number One contender Hughie Fury. The fight will be taking place in the Manchester Arena, Manchester, United Kingdom.
- Jorge Linares vs Luke Campbell, 24/09
Luke Campbell has said that he is excited for the first chance to fight for a World Title, but is adamant that he will not be cowed by the fact that he is facing WBA Lightweight Champion Jorge Linares. Campbell added that he is more than willing to take the more difficult route to the top, and is eager to face Linares out in LA.
- Yunier Dorticos vs Dmitry Kudryashov, 24/09
The mission for the Muhammad Ali Trophy in the Cruiserweight division arrives in San Antonio in the USA when the WBA World Champion Dorticos faces off against Kudryashov in a quarter-final fight at the Alamodome. Sports betting sites are ramping up the markets as Dorticos swears to prove that he is the best fighter in the Cruiserweight division worldwide.
- Tom Farrell vs Ohara Davies, 30/09
Tom Farrell has cautioned Ohara Davies that he won’t be the one who gives up when they meet up in Liverpool on the 30th of September this year. He will be defending his WBA International Super-Lightweight title at the Echo Arena, and Farrell will have something more than just local support in his favour: the outspoken Davies will be making his first appearance in the ring since losing in just seven rounds to Josh Taylor in July.
- Sean Dodd vs Thomas Stalker, 30/09
Dodd and Stalker are two shining advertisements for boxing:
Dodd can be likened to the Cinderella Man. He is a fighter who came to boxing later on in life to give his wayward days some structure and discipline, and at just 31-years old he was handed the unexpected chance to fight an eliminator for the UK title. He is now the satisfied, and deserving, owner of both Commonwealth and WBC International belts.
Stalker is a decorated amateur fighter who has managed to collect medals, for fun, at some of the biggest tournaments in the world. He also captained his country at the 2012 Olympics, which took place in London.
- Mairis Briedis vs Mike Perez, 30/09
The WBC World Champion, Briedis, is set to meet Perez, born in Cuba but based in Ireland, in a quarter-final showdown at the Riga Arena in Latvia on the 30th of September.
- Paul Butler vs Stuart Hall, 30/09
Stuart Hall has made a solemn vow that he will totally demolish Paul Butler when their rematch takes place on the 30th of September 2018. The fight will be an eliminator for the WBA World Bantamweight Title.
