Well traveled goal getter Shane ‘Mario’ Dolan is back in the intermediate top flight.
The striker boast an excellent footballing CV having turned out for a number of high-profile clubs such as Shelbourne, Ballymena United, Donegal Celtic, Carrick Rangers, Drogheda United, Athlone Town among others, has signed recent FAI Junior and Intermediate Cup winners Liffey Wanderers.
Having shot to through the LSL ranks with consecutive promotions over the last five season Wanderers are heading into their first ever Senior Sunday season and not long after they brought young talent Clayton Maher from the League of Ireland they have added another player with pro experience.
Dolan, who was last on the books of Home Farm and has had injury hampered stints with the Crumlin United, St Mochtas and Tolka Rovers, will give them a different type of option up top. An attacking trio of Maher and the Roche brothers Lee and Aiden has proved goal worthy over the years, but ‘Super Mario’ should enable them to shake things up in terms of attacking approach.
Aiden Roche usually leads the line and has been nothing short of sensational for his local club, but Dolan is different to the live wire front man and may grant them the option to go more direct. The striker with a great scoring record should chip in with his fair share of goals also has brilliant link up play capabilities.
The last time the striker got a prolonged run in Senior Sunday he stood out. In a half season spell with Firhouse Clover Dolan hit 10 goals before a return to semi-pro ball with PSNI up North.
