Stephen Ormond given chance for revenge
Stephen Ormond [22(12)-3(1)] has been handed the rematch that he craves.
The Clondalkin 33 year old fights on the MGM Scotland show at the Paisley Lagoon Leisure Centre on December 3rd, and it has today been confirmed that he will face Hungarian danger-man Zoltan Szabo [12(6)-2(1)] on the Boxnation-broadcast bill.
Ormond sensationally lost to the Central European last month, also in Scotland on what was his MGM debut. Here he suffered a flash first round knockdown before fighting back to claim a lead on the scorecards, only to be counted out after a perfect body punch in the fifth frame.
The Rock bounced back to claim a third round stoppage win over Daniel Bazo in Belfast earlier this month and stated his intention to push for the rematch and move down toward lightweight where he will resume his chase for World honours.
Since his win over Ormond, 22 year old Szabo was outpointed over a competitive ten rounds by German James Chereji for the WBC Silver Youth trinket.
Also featuring on the card in Scotland will be super featherweight Jono Carroll who is said to be facing a step-up in class.
Away from the Irish interest, there is also a WBO middleweight title defence for Billy Joe Saunders against Russian Artur Akavov, and appearances from Jack Catterall, Iain Bucher, Paul Butler Thomas Dickson, Ahmed Ibrahim, Ross Murray, Paul Kean, and Tommy Philbin.
