Stephen Ormond scores quick knockout in Belfast

Stephen Ormond scored one of th easiest wins of his career tonight in Belfast.

The Clondalkin lightweight took on Nicaraguan Norwin Gallo at the Devenish Complex and scored a quick stoppage win on the inaugural Ginley Promotions bill.

Ormond made a measured start, but soon sent the Central American down with a double left hook to the body. His gumshield spat out and his face creased in pain, Gallo rose at the count of nine but the bout was waved off.

The one-sided 48-second win sees Ormond move to 24(13)-3(1), while the overmatched Gallo drops to 7(5)-8(5) following the destructive loss.

Ormond will now make his way over to Manchester for sparring with Terry Flanagan to help the current WBO champion prepare for his title defence against Petr Petrov. It is Ormond’s intention to chase the title following Flanagan’s impending move up in weight.
