Spike: I have been wrestling alligators and I’ll knock out another big mouth foe Eubank Jr On Dec 12
He may not have tussled with a whale, handcuffed lightning or thrown thunder in jail, but Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan has wrestled an alligator and is ready to beat another ‘big mouth’ foe on December 12.
The Cork middleweight will face Chris Eubank Jr, if the English puncher comes through his October 24 fight with Tony Jeter unscathed, and claims he is looking forward to ‘destroying’ the son of fight legend Chris Eubank, who lost twice to Steve Collins – the brother of O’Sullivan’s trainer Pascal.
“I’m looking forward to getting in there on December 12 and destroying Mr Eubank. I’ve been wrestling alligators. It’s good core work. It’s a tough part of my training. If I can handle an alligator, I can handle Chris Eubank Jr if I catch him on the mouth,” Spike told Sky Sports.
The Celtic Warrior Gym middleweight knocked out David Toribio in Lowell this month and stayed in America with stable mate Stephen Ormond to spar. He shared the sparring ring with former World Champion Jermain Taylor, and claims if he can handle the controversial talent Eubank Jr won’t prove a problem.
“I’ve got the contract. I’m out here in Florida doing a bit of training, sparring Jermain Taylor and I signed the contract and sent it back. He’s former undisputed champion of the world and he’s a quality boxer. Chris Eubank Jr is no Jermain Taylor.
“I hope he doesn’t get any injuries or cuts this weekend so we can get it on in December. I’m coming for you Chris and I’m going to knock you out.”
