Spanish seconds for Lynn Harvey

Lynn Harvey [2(2)-1(0)] will look to banish any lingering demons from her only career professional defeat later this month.

The Dubliner lost to Spaniard Mary Romero over six rounds on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Inception’ card at the National Stadium back in November.

Harvey quickly returned to the ring following the loss, switching trainers to Tommy McCormack and demolishing Hungarian Agnes Draxler at the weekend in Belfast.

Now ‘The Hunter’ will box again at the National Stadium, again on a Red Corner Promotions card, and again against a Spanish opponent.

Irish-Boxing.com can confirm that the Kilbarrack 35 year old will face Maribel De Sousa [1(0)-9(1)] over six rounds on the ‘Unfinished Business’ bill at the home of Irish boxing on Saturday February 25th.

The rangey Barcelona fighter has boxed exclusively against undefeated opponents during her ten-fight career and lost a competitive fight with Marta Branas for the Spanish flyweight title back in December 2015. This month’s fight will take place at light flyweight.

The 38 year old, who is also an experienced K1 kickboxer, throws a nice one-two and will have a size advantage over the powerful former Senior champion.

Harvey features on the Dublin bill alongside Noely Murphy, Connor Coyle, Chris Blaneym, Allan Phelan, Eric Donovan, Jay Byrne, Stevie Collins, Craig O’Brien, Thomas Finnegan, and headliner Luke Keeler.

Further opponents, including a European-ranked foe for Keeler, will be announced tomorrow (Tuesday February 7th) at an open to the public press conference at the National Stadium at 2:00pm.

Opponents have already been confirmed for Jay Byrne and Connor Coyle.
